Central business district 9 - misk art grant
As part of his research for Misk Art Grant 2021, Mishari intended to shed light on one of the prominent blocks of modernist buildings in Kuwait city the central business district 9 (CBD 9), locally known as Al Blockat which is home to Kuwait’s textile district. Kuwait City has undergone countless cycles of development and its buildings are under constant threat of demolition. The Blockat district is not immune to this vicious trend, with one of its infamous blocks partially demolished to make way to an underwhelming structure in its place. The research is meant as a continuous study of the erased and changed architectural heritage of the city.
